My dress is silk and I'm worried about marks. Is that a problem?
It is a real risk and it is treated as one. Silk holds pin marks and water spots, so it is pinned in the seam allowance, pressed with a cloth at low heat, and handled as little as possible. Anything that cannot be done without risking a mark gets flagged before it is attempted, not after.
